The early history of Glanzstoff began with the takeover of Glanzstoff Austria by CAG-Holding in the year 1994, and the constant expansion of the production site in the heart of the city of St. Pölten. Besides tire yarn (Viscord®), other textile viscose yarns (Viscofil®) were spun in the highest quality using the classical viscose process. The plant was later stopped due to a fire in 2008.
A converting plant was acquired in Luxembourg in 1997 - Textilcord Steinfort - in order to operate as an integrated provider of tire fabric.
The viscose production capacity doubled in 1998 through the takeover of Glanzstoff Bohemia, making the Glanzstoff Group the second largest rayon yarn manufacturer worldwide within 15 years.
In 2007, the Glanzstoff Group expanded once again through the integration of the Italian converting facility, Sicrem.
